Volare (pt.1) - First Paragraph & Meaning of Title

It's only a week from the Kindle release of my novel, Volare! (I included a summary for this Young Adult fiction piece in the previous post.

The title of the piece was inspired by an old Latin word meaning "to fly," which is a hint at a major part of the story.

Here is the first paragraph from the book as a (very) quick teaser.

Volare (pt. 1)

I focus on her shoulders to predict what she’ll do next. My jaw still stings from the last punch thrown and she barely grazed me. In the back of my mind, I hold on to the fact that the Volare may come at any moment. This knowledge helps me to dodge my mother’s next punch. I want to make her proud.
